Since BM and I were around that area, we decided to have dinner before we leave for our dance class. Kim Penh Xe Lua had a weird, herb-y smell right when we walked in.

As a lover for Asian street food, I am quite tolerant with sanitary conditions as long as I don't know too much about it or I can reasonably ignore it. However, this time it was right in my face. The spoons and forks were WET with dirty water. It was pretty gross. Luckily there was tea for me to rinse the utensils! I am still surprised I didn't get sick from using them =S Too bad I forgot to take a picture!

While my noodles did come with a lot of meat, it was all steak =___= I found like probably no more than three pieces of the other ingredients that were suppose to be present. I asked for spicy but it was quite mild, so as always I dump half of the hot sauce bottle in there =P

I can't find the Meat Ball Banh Mi on the menu I found online, but surprisingly it was quite a delight. The bun was soft on the inside and crisp on the outside, while the meat ball filling was full of flavours.

have been to this place several times only because it use to be open 24 hours. i tried their ham and meatball sub before and notice there is more bread than meat.....did you also notice that?
ReplyDeleteI am not overly picky but one time my pho had soooo much oil, literally after teh first spoonful i felt like i was drinking oil...i had to ask them if they can dilute it for me..
yeah i have to agree that their cleanliness is something to be desired ( sarcasm)....LOL I also clean my utensils with the tea too...i actually ask for an extra glass of tea and dip all my utensil in there....too bad there is not any other vietnamese restaurants in the area:=(

ReplyDeleteAs I said, I can reasonably ignore bad sanitary conditions as long as they hide it well from me >___< at least put up a clean front! The dirty utensils were too much!
With their banh mi, I do agree that there are a bit too much bread. I think I only bit the parts with meatball inside and left a lot of the bread itself untouched...
